Our mission is to provide lasting medical care to underserved communities in Honduras and an immersive global health education
PODEMOS was founded in 2008 by medical and law students at The Ohio State University. PODEMOS has since expanded to include medical, nursing, pharmacy, dental and law students and professional providers. Since 2009, PODEMOS has run biannual medical brigades to villages around El Progreso, Honduras. These communities often suffer from extremely high rates of poverty, malnutrition, and poor healthcare infrastructure. To tackle these challenges, PODEMOS takes a community health approach, providing both acute and chronic care services to patients. We employ a strong team of in-country Honduran staff, including a local nurse, to ensure care for our patients year-round. Over the years, PODEMOS has built a relationship with these communities. We return to these same communities every six months, and over time, we have seen many lives changed for the better.
