Jason Galo — Board of Directors Member

Jason has been involved with PODEMOS since 2008, beginning as a high school student in Honduras where he served as a medical translator on multiple brigades. He continued his involvement through college and medical school, participating in numerous trips and later taking on leadership roles as a trip leader responsible for organizing and executing brigades. During his cardiology fellowship, he returned as an attending physician, providing clinical care while mentoring trainees. He now serves on the Board of Directors, where he helps coordinate trips, facilitates planning and logistics in Honduras, and acts as a liaison between student leadership and local staff to ensure continuity and sustainability of PODEMOS’s mission.

Amy James — Director of Pharmacy

Amy is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended University of Toledo College of Pharmacy. She currently works at The Ohio State University as a clinical pharmacy specialist, specializing in endocrinology and weigh management. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, playing volleyball, and trying new restaurants in Columbus. She joined the PODEMOS board as Director of Pharmacy in 2022. She helps coordinate the pharmacy for all brigades and serves as liaison for pharmacy students or pharmacists attending the trip.

Carlos Leiva-Sanchez — Board of Directors Member

Carlos is originally from Honduras, Central America, where he earned his medical degree from the Universidad Católica de Honduras, and he holds a Master of Science from The Ohio State University. As a trilingual primary care physician and researcher, Carlos is deeply passionate about global health equity, social determinants of health, and bridging healthcare gaps through inclusive science. He actively supports PODEMOS’s bisemestral international brigades as well as their quarterly national brigades. In this role, he coordinates and communicates closely with the Honduran medical and outreach teams, including community leaders from each of the communities served in El Progreso. Carlos also supports medical students by mentoring PODEMOS research projects, which have led to scientific poster presentations at conferences such as the Infectious Diseases Week, The IMG Event, the Clinical and Translational Science Conference, the American Heart Association Symposium, and other international conferences under the Global Health category. He officially joined the Board of Directors in May 2024. Outside of his work with PODEMOS, Carlos works as a Clinical Research Professional conducting complex trials across various medical specialties. Additionally, he serves as an academic ambassador for Project IMG, the world’s largest non-profit advocating for International Medical Graduates as they bridge and start their careers as medical doctors in the U.S. on the path to matching in to residency.

Kathleen Wyne — Board of Directors Member; Chronic Care Lead

Dr. Wyne is an adult endocrinologist specializing in the management of diabetes, lipids and hypertension. Dr. Wyne earned her medical degree from the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago. After serving a residency in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, she completed her fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas. Dr. Wyne is board certified in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism and in Clinical Lipidology. She is a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology and of the National Lipid Association. She has served two terms as an SGE for the US FDA on their Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Toxicology Devices Panel. She has worked with the Texas Diabetes Council to write algorithms for the minimum standards for diabetes care in Texas and to revise their Diabetes Tool Kit, which is an educational resource for health care professionals who work with patients who have diabetes. Since coming to OSU she has served as medical director of the programs for Adults with T1D, Adults with Cystic Fibrosis Related Diabetes (CFRD), the Hospital Diabetes Post-Discharge Clinic and the medical student run Clinica Latina free clinic.

Matthew Imm, CEO and Founder

Matthew Imm is originally from Cleveland, Ohio. He attended the College of William and Mary in Virginia and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BS in chemistry and a deep interest in global health and service to the poor. He then attended The Ohio State University College of Medicine where he helped found PODEMOS and deepened his commitment to Buckeye football. In 2011, he graduated Cum Laude and promptly escaped from the cold to South Florida. He completed his combined internal medicine/pediatrics internship and residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital from 2011-2015, participating in the Global Health Track which is designed to help participants care for diverse patients in a local and international setting. He was also Chief Resident for the Medpeds program during his fourth year.

Tiffany Wang, Chairman of the Board

Tiffany Wang is originally from Dayton, Ohio. She graduated from The Ohio State University with degrees in Psychology and Zoology, and went on to complete her medical degree from Ohio State as well. During that time, she served as Student Chapter Vice-President, and led several PODEMOS brigades. She is currently an obstetrics and gynecology resident at Georgetown University / Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. As the Chair of the PODEMOS Board of Directors, she is involved with ensuring the long-term success of the organization and works closely with both the Board of Directors and the Student Chapter. Outside of PODEMOS, she enjoys running, hiking, rock climbing, music, cooking, and traveling..

Andrew Vitaliti, Chief Financial Officer

Andrew Vitaliti is originally from Richmond, Virginia and graduated from Cedarville University with majors in Biology and International Studies.  He then moved up to Columbus, OH and received his MBA from The Ohio State University. During his MBA, he majored in Strategy and International Business; he also traveled to various parts of the world (Middle East, Asia, Europe and South America) as part of his coursework.  He is currently working as a Consultant at Nationwide Insurance and is focused on developing cross-functional market strategy. In 2016, he joined PODEMOS as the Chief Financial Officer.  In this role, he is responsible for managing the finances of the organization as well as finding partnerships for PODEMOS.  Additionally, he will provide business and organizational acumen to help the organization run more effectively.  In addition to PODEMOS, his other interests include traveling, public speaking, scuba diving, outdoor activities, politics, international relations and economics.

Sara Brummel Imm, Chief Operative Officer

Sara Brummel Imm is originally from Warrenville, IL. Her introduction and initial inspiration to work in global heath service and research was as an undergraduate student at the College of William and Mary when she worked on a public health initiative in the Dominican Republic. She graduated cum laude with a bachelors degree in Sociology in 2007. After graduation she spent a year working as a Laboratory Coordinator in the department of psychology at the Ohio State University, studying language development in children. While living in Columbus, OH she assisted in the design and implementation on the first research project in Honduras that ultimately lead to the creation of PODEMOS. In 2008 she enrolled in the Moritz College of Law at the Ohio State University. As a law student, she became one of the founding members of PODEMOS and worked on drafting the original bylaws and nonprofit incorporation documents. Sara received her Juris Doctor degree with honors from Ohio State in 2011. She currently is licensed to practice law in Florida and works as a government attorney in the Miami area.
